Last weekend, I spent a couple days in Rogers City, Michigan (between Alpena and Mackinaw), helping clean out my grandmother's house and prep everything left in it for a moving sale. More details once I can get the pictures I took resized and uploaded, but in the meantime, here's a picture for some context:

On the right is Calcite, the world's largest open-pit limestone quarry. I'm not sure of the official dimentions, but it's a bit more than a mile wide just after it turns to the north.

I knew it was enormous, but I didn't realize it was several times the size of the entire town.
