Catching them while they're still young and impressionable

These two book titles were recently dropped into the "purchase suggestions box" at my library by the same person:

The sky's not falling: why it's OK to chill about global warming (the author has a BA in political science and an MA in resource economics and is a university professor, all of which apparently combine to make her an expert in climatology)

Help! Mom! There are liberals under my bed! (Billed as "...a fun way for parents to teach young children the valuable lessons of conservatism," it's the first book in a series that includes Help! Mom! Hollywood's in my hamper! and Help! Mom! The Ninth Circuit Nabbed the Nativity!)

The publisher's descriptions and author's bios at Amazon.com are worth reading for laughs, but especially check out the customers' tags for each title. (Hmm. I wonder what gave the person the idea to suggest those two particular books together...) And go howl at the summary of the 9th Circuit book while you're over there.

I suspect we'll probably end up only getting the second one (as there are no professional reviews available for the first), and will most likely treat it as the primer on conservatism that it is rather than as just another picture book. (So it would go with any other children's books about liberalism & conservatism that we have.)
