Which Firefox plugins are best?

So, when I do manage to join the Firefox bandwagon, which plugins/extensions, if any, do I absolutely HAVE to have to be able to navigate and display Web pages correctly, etc. (e.g. images, scripted menus, Flash, etc.)?

Which others would be the best/most useful to have?

Which others look reeeaaalllly shiny but should absolutely be avoided at all costs?

I tried looking at the list of "most popular" & "highest rated" extensions on Mozilla's site, but the first few pages of the lists were all what looked to be shiny crap out of Taiwan, and I decided I didn't have the patience to pluck out the wheat from the chaff without first getting some advice on what wheat & chaff look like.
