Writer's Block: Clock Punching

What was your first job?

My very first job was (surprise, surprise) shelving books at the local library, part time.

My first full-time job was a summer job in the quality control department of a local die-cast foundry that would have been shut down by the EPA (but they always knew when the inspector was coming and temporarily cleaned or covered everything up), was eventually slapped with some hefty fines for dumping toxic waste into the pond out back and thereby the local aquifer, and was eventually closed down (I believe after a corporate merger).

(Insert here my other three jobs: 1. Counting people in movie theaters for the distribution companies, as a way of auditing the theaters (off and on for 4 or 5 years); 2. Driving an ice-cream truck for 8 weeks one summer; 3. Door-to-door sales (all of two days, and the company has since either gone out of business--I hope, as they were scummy and likely breaking a few laws--or moved & changed their name).)

My first full-time, year-round job is my current job. In a bit over a week, I will have been working there for 15 years.
