My take on fandom's response to LJ's stance on pr0n

We've now seen, from various sides of fandom:

Denial (It's not pr0n! It's not illegal!)

Anger (I hate LJ and everyone who works for them is an evil, sarcastic bastard who should apologize and be fired!)

Bargaining (Why aren't you going after the pro-ana communities, too? Hypothetically, is this okay, and what about that, and that other thing? And the obscenity laws are just going to get struck down eventually anyways!)

Can we just skip straight to Acceptance (Okay, it is illegal, if I choose to keep posting it I will take any lumps that come my way, and in an attempt to make it legal again I'm going to snail-mail my favorite examples of this type of fanart to my congressman) and get back to I can hath cheezburger?

D&D 4th ed. to ship in 2008

Wizards of the Coast just announced that D&D 4th edition will come out in 2008.

So it looks like that's going to mark the end of my run of keeping current with D&D. I just don't have the time & opportunity to play much anymore, and with a kid on the way, there's no way I'll be able to afford to buy all new core rulebooks again.

I'm keeping all of my 1st, 2nd, Rev. 2nd, 3rd, and 3.5th ed. rulebooks, so I can keep playing & writing (and reminiscing) for as long as I can find time & other interested players, but that's only going to get harder as time goes on.

(Maybe when I have a kid(s) old enough to play it themselves things could change, but at the rate WotC is going, they'll probably be up to 5th or 6th edition by then, so there's really no point in trying to keep up for now.)

Talk about "end of an era"; I guess it's a good thing I stopped posting the D&D FAQ when I did...
