Snakes on a plain!

So I was hunting for a base image to use for the icon on this post, and stumbled across this image, based on a verse that just happened to the one of the lessons in church this morning: God Sends Snakes.

After laughing at the serendipity of hearing that verse this morning and then coming across this image, and laughing at the inherent silliness of it, my next thought was, "Snakes on a plain!" :)

Turns out this is just one image from The Brick Testament, an attempt to render the entire Bible in Lego dioramas. The hilarity (while still basically staying true to the original material) has to be seen to be believed, and it even includes a ratings system: Nudity, Sexual content, Violence, and Cursing. (Who knew that Lego people could be or do any of those things?)

It's amazing what one can do with a bucket of Lego people from the Star Wars & castle sets and a lot of free time...

Christianity in the age of in vitro fertilization

A pastor's "thought for the week" in the back of a church bulletin, in its entirety:

"LIFE THOUGHT: Fourth Sunday in Lent--Since this Sunday is so close to the Annunciation, March 25th, it gives opportunity to talk about when God sent the "Light" in to the world (John 3:19). God so loved the world that He became a Zygote (one-celled human being) in the fallopian tube of Mary! The road to the cross begins here, not in a manger. Jesus' passing through all stages of our development in order to redeem us gives great value to all stages of our development."

And here I'd thought hearing about Sex Ed. was bad for our children...
