Workin' for a livin'

I've noticed that answering "So what do you do?" with "I'm a librarian" when you're a 30-something guy tends to make people's brains go -pfft- due to deeply held stereotypes involving hair buns, granny glasses, and sensible shoes. Alternatively, people hear that and think that I answer questions all day long from the general public, which is almost as far removed from the daily workload of a cataloger such as myself as the hair bun is.

This'll probably bore most of you silly, but my work life is a side of me most of my friends haven't really seen and aren't likely to see, so I thought some of you might be interested in a peek at the man behind the curtain, as it were.

Same student, more Dewey questions

If you really want to see some library geekery on display, there's always the dewey_blog, the librarian action figure (and the new deluxe version!), and the very funny Unshelved webcomic.

There's your glimpse into the mind of a library cataloger; time to go back to the random fandom geekery, politics/current events, tales of home life, and observational humor of the rest of your friends list. :)
